สโคปเองเป็นอุปกรณ์วัดค่าประเภทหนึ่ง ที่ใช้วัดค่าต่างๆในวงจรของเครื่องอิเลกทรอนิกส์ เช่นเมนบอร์ด์โน้ตบุ้คโทรศัพม์มือถือเป็นต้น หน้าที่หลักของตัวสโคปก็คือ ทำหน้าที่วัดรูปคลื่นและรูปสัญญาณต่างๆซึ่งมิเตอร์ไม่สามารถจะวัดได้ รวมทั้งวัดแรงดันไฟ ซึ่งในวงจร mainboard มีหลายจุดมากที่มิเตอร์ไม่สามารถวัดได้ต้องใช้ สโคปวัดเท่านั้น เพราะถ้าจะให้การวัดเป็นไปอย่างถูกต้อง และแม่นยำแล้วนั้น ต้องใช้สโคปวัด สโคปแบบดิจิตอลสโตเรจ (ออโต้) เป็นสโคปที่สามารถวัดวงจรหรือรูปคลื่นต่างๆ สามารถลดความเสี่ยงในการยกอุปกรณ์ เพราะสามารถระบุตัวที่เสียได้แคบลง หรือ บางจุดสามารถสรุปถึงอาการเสียของตัว IC บนบอร์ดของ Mainboard ได้เลย จุดที่ใช้วัดสัญญาณต่างๆในวงจร mainbord นอกเหนือจากวัดแรงดันไฟ
